Going to the restroom in Japan can be a completely mundane and usual experience of facing or sitting on a toilet, letting things go, and washing up afterward before getting back to what you were doing before. It can be a very unfamiliar and even uncomfortable experience where you have to squat over a slit in the ground and figure out how to maintain your balance, KEEP YOUR PANTS CLEAN, while doing your business. It can also be a high tech and practically life-changing event that ends up being a factor that anchors your soul to this country. This entry shall focus on the latter.
